Outreach Talks

I have given outreach talks for school groups, both within the US and internationally, and community events including: University of Toledo White House Astronomy Night, The Toledo Astronomical Association, The General Motors Astronomy Club, and Ritter Planetarium Astronomy Day.

Dragon Con Science Track

Dragon Con is a large fantasy & science fiction convention, held every year over Labor Day Weekend. In September of 2018, I served as a panelist on their science track, educating the public on careers in science, and the accuracy of science in fantasy/science fiction. I also served on the organizing committee for the Science Track, and was a guest panelist again for Dragoncon Goes Virtual in September 2020.

Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics

I was on the organizing committee for the (Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics hosted at the University of Toledo in January of 2018. This conference was part of a group of conferences being hosted by the American Physical Society. We hosted 153 undergraduate students from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Western Pennsylvania.

March for Science: Toledo

We organized an ran a table of physics demonstrations at the March for Science: Toledo on April 22, 2017, to help educate the public who came to the march on various scientific disciplines.

Cedar Point Physics Science and Math Week

Every year, the University of Toledo Department of Physics and Astronomy participates in Cedar Point Physics Science and Math Week. We put on physics demonstrations, and do a liquid nitrogen show, for the public. I served as one of the organizers for our presence at this event every year.

Women in STEMM Day of Meetings

The University of Toledo Association for Women in Science (AWIS) puts on an annual event to introduce female students from local high schools to various fields of science. I have served as a volunteers at this the event and also run workshops on how to make solar cells.

Chase After School Programs

The University of Toledo Society for Physics Students helps run after school programs for local middle school students. We have taught them how to make solar cells, done liquid nitrogen demos with them, and helped them run an egg drop competition.
