The following policies regarding the weekly homework assignments were
announced in class on Tuesday, September 10, 2002:
Then some friendly advice: always think about whether your answer makes sense.
Is it about as large or as small as you would expect if you thought
qualitatively or semi-quantitatively about the problem?
- The reasoning you used to work each problem must be shown, including all
logical steps. Papers giving only the answers (even if they are correct) will
not receive credit.
- In future, answers without units will be marked off.
- Numbers larger than 1 million (106) should be converted to
power-of-ten notation. This will be required beginning in Homework 3. You are
free to write numbers smaller than this either way.
