This
course will look at South Asian women’s lives, cultures and histories.
Journalistic, academic, legal and cinematic sources will help explore South
Asian women and their diasporas. Non-western multicultural course. |

This
course satisfies the University General Education Core curriculum for non-western
multicultural and humanities requirement. It may be used as an
elective to satisfy the U.S. diversity Multi-cultural Core requirement. |

A)
It looks at a significant non-western culture from multiple social and political
perspectives, with special attention to questions of cultural difference with
particular focus on women’s and gender issues. B)
This course is intended to fulfill intellectual competencies of inquiry,
communication, historical consciousness, and social awareness. C)
The course looks at women in South Asia and their history, culture, political
status and migration in a longitudinal perspective as well as with attention
to contemporary social and political issues.
It also encourages outreach, fieldwork and communication with the
Diaspora community. |
