16. Where does this course fit in the University/College/Department curriculum?  (Be specific by course level, if applicable).  Indicate prospective demand.

This course offers an opportunity for students who have taken dance classes within the dance program of the Department of Music and Dance to increase their knowledge of dance and the creative process through performances and outreach programs.  Having a course dedicated to the creation and presentation of new dance works also allows for greater collaboration between the dance program and the music faculty, as well as the possibility for collaboration with other departments (Theater and Film, Visual Arts, English, etc.) It is crucial that the students of The University of Toledo have the opportunity to include dance performances (as participants and/or audience members) in their education.  With outreach programs, we are able to introduce and educate the Toledo community about dance, the arts in general, and The University of Toledo.  All dance classes are open to the entire University of Toledo student body. We have had many requests for this class from students of all University of Toledo colleges and with an increase in performances and outreach programs; we expect our enrollment to continue to grow dramatically.
