Venue and Accommodation

The Conference will be held in the Estes Park Center at YMCA of the Rockies

A few facts about the conference venue should be kept in mind when making plans to attend the AoD symposium.

The Estes Park Conference Center is located at an altitude of slightly over 8000 ft (2500m) above sea level, and it may take you a day or two to become accustomed to the reduced oxygen level. The Center staff stresses the importance of drinking plenty of water to prevent altitude sickness, at least twice your normal daily consumption. Smoking is not permitted indoors, and during this year's forest fire season, was even prohibited outdoors. This could apply again next year. Smokers may therefore consider seeking alternative housing in hotels in nearby (~3miles) Estes Park. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in public areas. All rooms are equipped with telephones but there are no television sets in the rooms. Limited Internet access is available through 6 computers in the Maude Ellison Library ($). Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops with them in order to have access to their files and data.
